notes on new toys

Post by powderburner »

thumblers tumblers:
1 holds only about 50 45-110 cases or it takes too long (35 is better)
2 you can reuse the solution if you let it set and settle out (a couple days)
(( i must be real cheap))
3 the media quits sticking in 45 brass after it has been used a dozen times( thats kinda what it says on the directions) run for 8 hrs before use.
4 cleans really well but in reality it needs to run for a couple hours to do a real good job.2.5-3
5 a lot quieter than a vibratory cleaner
sure makes for pretty cases.

Waage lead pots
WOW
I only have to make three piles when weighing now
1 for the bottom 1/3 gn wt, 1for the middle 1/3 gn wt and 1 for the top third gn wt ,boringly consistant.
it must have to do with the thermostat ,I cast three different days and wound up with the same gn wt in the piles each day highly unusual for me

now if I could just shoot as consistant as that pot...........

Dean I usually let my Thumbler model B run for 5 hours, the brass looks better than you can buy new..

I forgot to say, I don't use all the media that came with the ceramic kit, I put in brass and media and mix it up until the media just covers the brass, then mix in the water and "cleaning stuff". I've had 80 45-70's in it and it did real good.

Powder and Ken, I think that if you both got a holt of some of the cleaning solution sold by Dave Mauer (sp) you would find that you can clean your brass so they look better than new both inside and out. I tried the Thumlers solution and it doesn't work anywhere near as well. I just barely cover the media with water, add 1 tsp of solution and then dump in the brass. I have done as many as 60 .45-110 and 40 or more .45-70 cases at the same time. Done 100 .45-90 and all came out perfect. Randy
