210-grain cast bullet in .40-65?

Has anyone tried using a 210-grain cast bullet such as used with .41 Magnum in .40-65 as a plinking or fireforming load?

Oh yeah. I use a 260 grain .410 41 mag bullet for my chicken bullet. The 210 seemed to work ok at 100 yards, but fell apart at 200. It would make a good close range plinking load. I think the 260 grain one would have un-noticeable recoil increase and little difference in cost and might be a better choice, though.

We used that bullet in our 40-65 a couple of years ago. I switched to the Lyman 410678 I think it is. It's a tapered bullet that can be seated deeper in the case to eat up powder room. The Lyman 390 gran bullet was MUCH more accurate in both of Jeanne's 40-65s than the pistol bullet.

I use Lyman's 405 Win bullet, 412263, in my 40-65 for 200 meter Silhouette. It weighs 292 in 1 to 20.

After doing some digging around for data, tried an experiment. I've got a mold that throws a 200-grain semi-wadcutter for .41 Mag. Took some of those, sized .410, and loaded them over 19.0 grains A5744.
Five rounds tried at an indoor range, so only 30 yards. Shot nicely. These were new-formed cases that needed fireforming*, and they did so nicely.
So looks like will work for a short-range practice and forming load. May try bumping the charge up a touch, though.
*I've tried newly-formed cases with a full load, and accuracy was not good with this rifle, so fireforming is a needed thing.

Recently looked at the latest Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, and it has loads for both 200 and 240-grain bullets for .40-65. Just to try it, loaded some 200-grain semi-wadcutters I have for .41 Magnum over Trail Boss, and at 30 yards(the indoor range I use) shot well. So tried a few using the X-Treme 210-grain plated flatnose they make for .41 Mag, shot well also. I doubt they'd be much good at longer range, but for an indoor practice load, or for fireforming brass, should be fine.
