Re: Dual diameter 40-82 revisited
does that black mark suggest using iron sights?
if so you are not shooting too bad.

Re: Dual diameter 40-82 revisited
brian,
it is easy to aim slightly differently with irons for different shots.
you have to realize your eye is seeing pretty close to 1 moa at 300 yds, which is pretty good for particularly older eyes.
to get better than that, and you cannot get MUCH better at best, you really need to match all your sight rings and aiming mark perfectly, and have a special lens on your shooting eye to focus on the foresight perfectly.
i would suggest on the data we have seen that your rifle/load is shooting an amount better than the targets suggest.
you are very close to grouping all shots in the x ring, and those dispersed out of it are not missing by much, and well in the 10 ring, if it holds that grouping at 1000 yds.
at 800 and 900, likely all shots, particularly at 800, are x ring capable.
of course the further out you go the more vert can start to come into play due to velocity std deviation.
get your wind reading skills sharpened up, and your ring sizes correct for the target in hand, and you will even give zack a big scare with that rifle.

Id like to try to scare him if he'd ever show up !!
I may have to find a bigger refridgerator if the wind blows as hard as they are forecasting.
Gonna try the thinner paper just for reference.

Show UP? Where, at a Montana Land Fill?
Suppose I would have to bring my own derelict refregerator?
Probably not, however, Semtav could show up in Phoenix March 21-31, 2022, for seven days of Black Powder Target on real paper targets?
Which is, BTW, the biggest Black Powder Target Rifle Match there is, anywhere. No land fills nearby though.

I have heard rumors that ole Desert Deuce showed up in Wisconsin not many years ago, and came out at the top of the field in both long range target rifle matches, without any "home field advantage".

March is my personal IRAN month before Spraying kicks in full gear.
We will let you bring the biggest refridgerator you can find, if that will help.

Yeah, BUT, that Lodi match was easy, I was mostly shooting against paper patch shooters on their home range.
It was my first match at Lodi so make yourselves feel better and call it beginners luck.

Oh, I have to wonder what Semtav is going to spray in Montana in March, Ice Worms? Snow Bunnies? Pop Sicles?
March in Phoenix he can work on his tan and shoot in shorts and sandals if he so chooses.
Spraying, Nahhh, sounds more like familiar hen clucking to me.

zack,
you are like the fastest gun in the west.
your track record sets you up as a criterion for shooters to measure against.
luckily in these times, paper is the target.
as an aside, even the fastest gun still has to shoot straight to get the desired result.

I remember seeing him, but that was I think way back in 2013 so he is way over do to make that trip back

Maybe bustin' derelict refrigerators at 200 or so yards with a six shooter is more down my alley, but with a rifle? Nah, don't think so.
