Hey,
I have a 54 caliber carbine and rifle and the rifle has a .470" longer chamber. That aside. I am looking to get an 1863 Sporting rifle but in a .45 or smaller caliber for reduced recoil and better long range performance. I roll my own paper.
The Question(s):
1) what are the available chamber sizes for each caliber?
2) Would the shorter carbine chamber be better for the rifle?
Thank you,
Charles

Re: 1863 chamber sizes?
The chamber in my original Sharps carbine is a good bit smaller than the chamber in my Farmingdale Shiloh Sharps infantry rifle. I roll my own paper cartridges and use the same ones in both the rifle and carbine with equally good results. Don't know if that helps you or not.
