I’ve been studying the reviews on this brand of powder scales, and also on its RCBS equivalent. I just don’t know what to buy after reading all of the bad reviews on many makers of powder scales. Has anyone used this particular scale? What is the best scale on the market today under $400? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I used an RCBS Chargemaster for years and liked it. It was a little slow but worked well. It’s right at your $400 limit or a little over but it’s a good unit.

I had researched auto tricklers as well and what I noticed was that a lot of the bad reviews seemed to be centered on the lower priced units. I would steer away from those personally.

I have not used the FA trickler.

I thought the same. The top-line models out-perform all others. I’m going to have to make a substantial investment. For MANY years all I’ve used is an RCBS Rangemaster 750; it’s a slow process, but it’s reliable. The groups prove that. The 750 is still performing well.

The only reason I sold my Chargemaster was because I upgraded to a Matchmaster. The old unit went to a guy just starting out. The new unit works awesome with both BP and smokeless but it was also $900. I don’t see ever going to one of the super high end units like the PRS guys use, this one works great.

I use one.
I have used the Lyman, two RCBS and two Sheels.
The Lyman lasted about a year and it was not consistent on the dispensing. Then I got the RCBS because of the ratings on the nets but when the first went down inside of a year they replaced it and it lasted less than two years and when it went down they would not fix it so I got a sheels and it worked fine and when it went down their no BS warranty they handed me a new one and I still have it and it works very good but they have discontinued to stock it.
When Frankford Arsenal came out with one I got it for a back up incase the Sheels went down. When I set it up and started to use it I put the Sheels back in the box for a back up. seems like these things always break down when you need them the most.
This Frankford Arsenal intellidropper has worked flawless for over two years and when you let it warm up and calibrated it is accurate in the drops. It will very seldom miss and if it does I have never seen it past 1/10 gr.
It's fast but also it's louder than the others I have used but it's good.

I hate to say it, but just about every electronic "convinience" has a pretty limited lifespan. I've always simply thrown my charges .5 to 1 grain low with either my Redding or Lyman powder measure. Then I "trickle" up with a hand operated RCBS trickler while the charge is in the pan on my Lyman Ohaus scale scale. System has worked flawlessly for over 50 years and my charges are consistant to within 0.05 grain with smokless or black powders powder. Maybe a bit more work, but I never get in much of a hurry when reloading and have never felt the need for an "automatic" scale. I probably wouldn't trust it anyway.

I run a RCBS charge master. Have won 6 NRA scope titles and 2 winter Nationals, 4 America’s Cups.
World Record groups 5@200 etc etc ad nauseam.

They work fine. I have had one fail in the last 22 years.

Next time it goes I may try the Frankfurt model.

Don't you have static electricity in the plastic hopper? I use the RCBS Charge Master with smokeless powder, and I see the static electricity in it causing the granules to stick to the sides of the hopper.

Wipe down the inside of the hopper with a fabric softner/ anti static sheet. The kind that you throw in the drier. They work quite well for eliminating static electricity on plastic and metal.
