Running ragged looking for a set of dies for my original 40-70 Sharps BN dies for the 2.25 as Redding and CH4d are 1-2 years behind. Is there a manufacturer anyone is aware of that may have a quicker turn around?

Well, If your brass is already fireformed you can get by with a universal decapper and Lyman M for belling the mouth if shooting greasers. You can thumb seat the bullets or maybe use something like a 40-50 BN seater. No crimp is necessary. The specs for all the Remington, Sharps, and Winchester cases were highly variable anyway and grooves around .403 so it would be a shot in the dark without a chamber cast.

I do as above except shoot PPB and all I need is a decapper, capping tool, and a case trimmer now and then.

Thanks Sam and Yellowhouse, I have that M die and a universal decapper. Was just afraid that the base may need resizing after a first firing. An original Roller marked 40-50 but chamber cast revealed that it had been rechambered at sometime to 40-70 Sharps BN. i have the proper brass sized, annealed and fits the chamber. Hopefully will not need that sizing die.

If your necks are little loose to hold a patch to bore ppb a little squeeze with 40 sw tungsten carbide sizer will get her done. Bobw

You might try a 41 mag sizer on those necks too if the 40 SW don't work.

Yeah and at bp pressures with his brass allready to go can't really see the need for a full length sizer. I asked about a set of 44-77 dies from BACO the other day and was quoted 241 bucks so I am gambling I won't need them either. Bobw

I had to buy a set of 44-77 dies as my chamber was tight and needed to have the brass sized. Not so much on the 40-70. I think I'll try shooting and reloading first and hope for the best.
