Hold

Just swapped out the scope on my Hartford for buckhorn sights and a blade front and I’m in the early stages of a load development. For those of you using buckhorn sights in 45-70 with the govt bullet, do you find your rifles tend to shoot with a center hold or 6 o’clock hold?

I I’ve been tending to hit a little high so I’m trying to determine if it’s me, the load, or the way the sights are designed. I’ve been using a center hold.

The specs on my rifle are 30in heavy octagon.
Right now I have 70gr FFg goex and I’m using federal large magnum primers. Cereal box cardboard card on top of the powder and coffee filter card over the primer. I’m compressing to seat the bullet all the way to the top grease groove.

Thanks again to mr. powderburner and everyone else for helping me solve my chambering issues.

It will shoot with whatever you want it to. Having learned in the Marines, I favor a 6 o'clock hold. If you are shooting high, cut the notch in the rear sight lower, or get a front sight with a higher blade.
