Ian,
I did the same thing with my DZ scope and Mounts last year. I sent the scope back to Dan and I had it back in a week. Thats fixed and shipped from OK to WV. I was amazed. My first scope was the leatherwood and its cross hairs were on the opposite ocular so I “assumed” they were all alike. You know the rest of the story…..

Ian I left the MVA front mount on the A scope but I switched the rear and adjusted the blocks for the higher MVA front mount.
The A scope now uses the MVA front and the DZ rear. The reason for me leaving the front on is because of the Pope rib being on the bottom of the MVA, the DZ has their stop ring and rib on the top of the scope and I don't want to take the rib off. and the MVA rib is smaller in diameter by around 10K. I could have used the DZ front but with the mill dots in the MVA they would have been upside down, but it really would not be a problem or I could change the reticle barrel.
I will most likely never use the A scope for matches, it's just too dim and to much power being 10X for me on overcast days so I just use it for load development or the .22.
I looked at the hi-lux william malcolm 8x usmc sniper riflescope, external adjustment mounts and I will most likely get a set and put the DZ mounts back on the DZ scope. They are halve the price of the DZ and they will work just fine shooting here at home.

I turned the scope upside down and used the DZ front and rear but what I will probably end up doing it using the mva front and DZ rear. I may get the mva adjustable front mount and see if I can’t adjust it so that the settings for my mva and DZ can be the same….. wouldn’t that be nice!!

I have only seen pictures of the MVA front mount. It looks higher than the DZ or the regular wind gauge MVA front. That would take a higher rear block like maybe .500" or more and that would raise the scope pretty high to hold a long range cheek weld I would think. I would have to see the adjustable front mount.

Not sure if the new A series scopes work the same way, but when I switched to DZ mounts on my 23" MVA scope, U turned the scope upside down, removed the reticle cell and rotated it 180 degrees so that my centerless mildots weren't upside down. It was pretty easy.
