In Casa Grande Arizona, I picked it up at the foundry.
Have no idea what their prices or policies are today.

Re: Tin
I watch E-Bay or sales at the lumber yards for no lead solder that is 95% tin 5% antimony and when I see sales of the 1 pound rolls for 5-6 dollars or under $10. I stock up.

Re: Tin
Tin shows up at the scrap yards too. Food grade pewter is a good source of tin. Most scrap yards throw it in the with the scrap lead and sell it at the scrap lead price. My last trip netted me 39 pounds of tin at 85 cents/pound. That with the 53 pounds I scored for free several years ago has me in good for the near future. That same trip also netted me some lead pipe and eight 26 pound pure lead bricks. I've got about 1800 pounds of good casting lead in the shop. Just keep your eyes open and be ready to jump.

Re: Tin
95-5 solder to 17lbs of lead.... works perfect. Get that at your local hardware/plumbing store.
