I think not too long ago Mr. Bob W. Posted some pictures of a bore scope of a polished barrel from paper patches. Before and after however many rounds fired. No more machining marks. It was pretty neat to see the difference.
WRONG 1. I don't have a borescope and 2. I' ve never personally posted a photo on this forum. I believe Kurt posted those excellent borescope photos to illustrate how patched bullets polish up a bore instead leaving leading all over it. bobw

I stand corrected. Sorry Bob. Names are not my strongest suit.

I also have one of these borescopes and have seen similar images to these in my barrels. Kurt, would you mind sharing your lead removal techniques? Your results look outstanding. Thanks.

I wrapped jute twine around a dewey Parker Hale jag, tight fit to bore and used Kroil penetrating oil.
And shot some soft 1/30 PP bullets wrapped with .002" thick paper to finish the cleanup.
The tight Jute Twine grabs the lead pretty good.

Burlap also works well but I didn't have a sack to unravel some threads, so I used the Jute. Just untwist the twine so it's more in the fiber state.

Kurt -

Thanks for sharing. I will give this a try. I’ve used Kroil to soak bores and pushed tight patches through with some results - but not like what you show in your last picture. Will let you know how it works.

So I bought the 36" 100 series and it failed after 15 minutes. After a couple of emails they sent out a new one (great service). The new one came and it is being finicky too. Windows or 10 machines, internal software and their software and AmCap and the scope works for 5 to 10 seconds and disconnects. I finally dragged out my old tablet and it glitched one time but now seems to work fine. Anyone else having trouble with theirs?

Mine was not a hours work. I spent three weeks getting that bore clean.

I have only used this one with my phone, and it seems to work pretty well. I am going to try the penetrating oil and twine/burlap method. I would like to get it back to bare metal, and shoot it to see how badly it leads after a single session.

Ordered the 26" probe with the 4.5" monitor. Went to work checking bores of a few rifles. I ordered the 5 different sized mirrors as well. My old Trapdoor with the pristine looking bore didn't turn out to be so pristine. One rifle is being a pain, and probably has the fewest rounds thru it. Come to the conclusion that just because you can get a patch to come out nice and white doesn't necessarily mean you don't have some sort of fouling issue. One thing about the bore scope is you can pinpoint the area that needs work and don't have to be guessing or trying to clean the whole barrel. Pretty impressive so far.

I have determined that firelapping may be in my best interest. Somehow my barrel got some pits in the last 4 years, and I have several spots that lead, and won't give up the lead.
