Hello all,
I noticed there is some lead alloy for sale on the SASS wire classifieds. Its advertised as 92% lead 6% antimony and 2% tin and the brinnel is 15. Would the 6% antimony make or too hard for casting bullets for 45 70, either pp or gg? What say the experienced casters and shooters?

That is a little harder than Lyman #2. It would be ok for smokeless powder loads but quite hard for black powder loads.

I would consider that if the 92/6/2 alloy is a reasonable price,
I would try it for BP loading

AS LONG AS the bullets have at least the base band at or above freebore/groove diameter.and the front bands are nice bore ride diameter
Then they do not need to bump up like traditional lead/tin alloys for BP.

My alloy of 9+1 COWW/Lino is similar to the 92/6/2, I Est my 9+1 is at about 94.5%/4.5%/1% .
Shoots very well with the above caveat that my DDEPP bullets have a Patch to FF case ID/freebore/groove dia.

Price is the determining factor. Cheap enough to buy? Alloy to what you want.
