Olde Eynsford 1F and compression
Anyone have any experience with Olde Eynsford 1F in say, a 45-90, and how much compression it might like?

Between .200 -.250" will get you in the ball park as well as with the 1.5 and 2F.

You are both perfectly right. Of course you already knew that. My experience with my 45-90 and the BACO Postell with one reduced band started out with 78 gr. of O/E 1.5. It shot alright but when I got out to 800-1000 yards the vertical left a lot to be desired. 78 gr. gave me about 0.100" with that bullet. I added 3 gr. and it produced this result at 823 yards with 0.200" compression. The one off the nose was a bad wind call but I was quite pleased with the vertical and it was the best ever on the Big Hill buffalo for me. The one at 2:00 o'clock is a double.

Paul that Big Hill Buff will give you a problem if the wind is up. And don't tell Spot that was a bad wind call

Re: Olde Eynsford 1F and compression
Back in November I was testing a patched mould I had made up, but then wasn't happy with the way it was shooting the length was just a tad long so I had it shortened. Anyway using the same 1 1/2 load I had been shooting things certainly tightened up nicely even at 1000. Just before I went out with those loads on a whim I loaded 1/2 dozen with OE 1f and a single thick card wad, leaving the compression die set. When I shot those 1f loads they shot close enough into the regular loads that it would certainly warrant some fine tuning, if my supply of 1 1/2 starts to get short with no hope of replenishing it.
