Fixing a loose lever

My Sharps rifle has a problem in that the loading lever is loose and hangs about a quarter inch below the frame. The disassembly lever is also loose and freely toggles back and forth within its space. What could cause this and how can it be fixed? I only shoot low velocity, low pressure loads.
Thank you,

What brand of Sharps rifle is it? If it's a Shiloh my guess is a weak or broken Lever Spring. No big deal if it's a Shiloh anything else 'not so much'.

Or perhaps a loose screw for the lever spring. It should be easy to determine by removing the forearm and taking a look at the spring.

Thank you for your responses, I will check the spring.
One more question the forarm is blocking the take down lever.
It has been 3 years since I removed it last. Could the wood have swollen?
This is a Shiloh Sharps rifle.
Thank you again.

Take the forearm off ,check/tighten spring screw /is it cracked or loose ? You can check and make sure the forearm is in its proper position as well as the screws .long one short one in its proper spot. If the wood is a little proud on the forearm just take it off to use the takedown lever and not mess anything up. It would take some high humidity for sometime to swell any of mine to the point of interfering . Something is making proud it wasn’t like that when it left Shiloh.
