barrel length VS velocity

Post by SBR4590 »

I'm re-barreling a 45 90 with a RKS gain twist. It will probably finish at 30". My other LR 45-90's have 34" barrels. I'm wondering, how much velocity loss, if any, will the shorter barrel give?
Thanks.
Frank.

You will not notice any difference per Kirk , I asked this very same question just a few weeks ago.

A friend of mine has a 16” 40. It shocked the hell out of me but it’s only 10FPS slower than his 28 or 30” 40. It looks funny as hell but it shoots really good.
