I have two separate orders for 250 pieces of.45-90 brass. One was placed in May and the other in July. They still show as processing. Is it normal to have a back order for 5 months?

I waited just over 1 year for 45-90 from Starline, last year.
But it finally came, and I was glad to get it!

I ordered several different cases listed as back ordered and got them immediately. So four months ago I ordered 45-90s and dang, same thing, still waiting.

I sure miss Jamison, Bell and Norma! This backlog really hurts if one is not shooting a 45-70.

I sent a message to them about the 50-70. I was told that it might be a while even if we can back order them. I ordered 250 but I might up it to 500.

I have quite a few gift cards from matches from starline and would like to get some 45-90 but, as I now have 500ish Jamison it seems like I should just make the load for that brass. guess I could just order it and wait too...

Why are so many calibers being back ordered for so long?
Unavailability of raw materials being brass?
Their inability to produce quantities?
Or are they being made by a second party in the US?

Be my guess they just make cases for bpcr rds to stay busy. Right now supplying mainline cases (9mm,223,308 etc) to custom ammo manufactures is kicking their ass to keep up. Same place all the lr primers are going to. bobw

Really now? Lettuce take a broader view. Not only is Starline Brass scarce, so is Winchester and Remington. Folks even having trouble finding 45-70 brass? How about reloading components in general? Percussion caps, primers, smokeless powder. Even .22 ammunition. I am seeing sporadic availability of primers at unheard of prices and even then limiting the buyer to one brick of 1,000. As Obama said, guns are useless without ammunition. Has anyone else figured this out......................YET?

Second post here of the New Year.

Latest RUMOR I have heard concerning the unavailable Starline Brass. I repeat, RUMOR.

Starline buys their brass material to make brass in sheets. The sheets must pass a materials test upon arrival at Starline.

Not that long ago they had 7 suppliers, then 5, now 2, that could supply brass sheets that met Shiloh specs.

Starline makes all of their brass from the same sheets, from 25 ACP to the largest.

The remaining two suppliers are not able to meet the quantity demand at Starline, hence, Starline makes finished brass based on orders.

The more orders they receive for a certain headstamp/caliber the sooner Starline will assign incoming sheets of brass to that caliber.

So, if you want 45-90 brass you need to put in an order for that brass with Starline or wait a year or more for sheet availability to increase.
