Here they are sports fans. Last weekend we met in Friendship, Indiana for our final match of this shooting season. Friday, 21 shooters showed up to contest what the weatherman predicted would be a windy but dry day. It was. Modern rifles far outnumbered the Traditional shooters, 15 to 6. One of these days they will get with the program and find the allure of the traditional rifle. Willie Pool is coming close. He was shooting an original Ballard, but sporting a scope that pushed him into the modern category. He finished third modern with a 30. New shooter, Michaek Rouch, shooting Willie's Model 52 Winchester beat him with his own rifle and placing second with a 32. Placing first, and dethroning Keith Ux, was Brad Parmer shooting as 33.
Traditional shooters were let by Woody shooting a 26 for third place, Robert Johnson scoring a 30 for second, and Steve Farringer, shooting a 31 for first traditional. Congrats to the winners. You can savor your victories until March when we start again.
I'll post the big bore scores next.

Saturday, the weatherman predicted rain starting around 11 with strong winds gusting to 40. He was right about the wind, but thankfully was only partially correct about the rain. We did get a few light showers mid-morning but that was it. Sadly, the wind was with us all day and it was a challenge that only as few were up to. Mel Barnell was one who seemed to understand it.

Re: Final Friendship match of the year results
Sunday was not a repeat of Saturday by a long shot. Severe clear and less windy. Almost too "less windy" to begin but building as the day progressed. Woody put on a chicken shooting exhibition downing six, including the "Ken Pointer" chicken. For those "not in the know", the Pointer chicken is the last chicken, and according to Ken "nobody misses the last one." Even with six chickens, Woody could not carry the day as he was unable to hit the last two pigs. David Huffman also put on a chicken shooting extravaganza downing five and besting the field by scoring a 27 to win the day. The scores are posted below.
Next match is in March. See you there.
