So you sight in to miss the chicken, then hope you basically drop the gun enough, but not too much to hit it? Doesn't sound logical to me. Why don't you just practice not dropping the gun and follow through? To each their own....

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. If I decide to shorten the barrel I'll post the results on my chicken scores here.
