Odd Shiloh configuration?

Hello Shiloh fans,
I just picked up a second hand Shiloh in what seems to me an odd configuration, but perhaps there’s more to it than I understand. It’s a .45 caliber 2.4”, 30” barrel with Hartford collar, straight grip stock, deep crescent buttplate, and now the weird part, what appears to be an SRC receiver with saddle bar, ring, and latch to lock the lever.
I just don’t understand why someone would order a full-length rifle, but with a saddle bar & ring and lever latch. Were they trying to copy something historical? Is it somehow functional? Just curious if anybody has some thoughts.
