I don't remember the material, but I went to the local hydraulic repair company and got an exact size "O" ring. Not rubber but a type weatherproof neoprene. It's going on 6 years and still looks good.

These are the specs for the o-ring Wayne originally spec'd. You can purchase this number and size in many different elastomers; I'd think Neoprene would be a good choice.
