Well I was going to get the Sharps Firearms: Early Metallic Cartridge Firearms and Model 1874 Sporting Rifles, by Roy Marcot and Ron Paxton, but I guess it no longer available. Anyone know if they’re going to print anymore? Don’t want to buy volume one if I can’t get the second. Thanks

I was told they will do some reprints after book four is completed and on the market.

I also heard from Roy that he may be putting out a "box" set with all four volumes.

I suggested to Roy that it would be great for a 4 box set and he agreed so hopefully it will materialize.

Yeah Brian that's the one, Volume ll. It's great more information has come to light since Frank Sellers book "Sharps Firearms" was wrote so Roy Marcot wrote his books. The last one Vol llll will probably go to print late in 23 or early 24. These books have been wrote with the help of the most knowledgeable people on the planet about Sharps Firearms. Many of the Sharps rifles photo'ed in the books are from the collections of the members of the Sharps Collector Association and no few members of this forum. Sharps rifles were fairly well documented from order to distributor sales. Many 74 sporting guns were direct ordered by individuals whose names were well documented giving the guns their provenance and history of their use. When a guy hits a gun show and sees a Sharps many have been lettered, some by Dr RL Moore in the past and now still being lettered by the current owner of the Sharps records Dr Richard Labowskie... bobw

Sorry if I was misunderstood. VOL ll was the first released because it contains most interest on 74's. Then they released Vol l on the percussions followed by Vol lll which contained info on model 74,75, and 77 Sharps target models last feb/ march. Vol llll should be availible in a year and contains the info on the Borchardt models and other subjects. When 4 is out they will look at cased sets and a reprint of vol ll. Vols l and lll are still availible. Bobw

Go ahead and get volume 1 anyway. It's a great read. The development of the percussion guns is fascinating, and you cannot understand the way the 74 is without knowledge of the 59.

I purchased one off e-bay recently. List was $750.00 so I offered $200.00 and he went for it.
