A somewhat off subject topic...

Am very fortunate to have a gun club that has targets out to 600 yards. However, due to our somewhat rainforest environment, the dirt backstops are covered in all sorts of greenery. Cutting and burning simply starts the process over. As such, it is near impossible to call misses (I not being like others that don't miss. ).

My question is this, is there someway or something that I can do that would allow a spotter to see misses? And yes, I really am using a 3' x 3' target, but still...

Unfortunately, no. The club takes care of all the mantenance, but I did ask.

You could use a different spotting technique. Have your spotter set up the optic directly over the barrel of the rifle. Usually easiest to do this from a standing position (spotter). The centerline of the optic should be no more than 1 foot to either side of the centerline of the barrel. Using this method, and with a few minutes practice, your spotter should easily be able to see the track of the bullet through the air. High-quality optics are key to this method, and it will not work from a seated position off to the side of the shooter.

It'd be a shame if there was a spill of Roundup on your berms.

Joking aside, this range sounds an awful lot like the Upper Nisqually Sportsmans club here in Washington. And when the OP says rain forest environment, he’s not kidding! You would need more than just a little round up, you need about 100,000 gallons. Everything there is green, except for the back stops on the silhouette range. The regular rifle range doesn’t seem to have bigger back stops like that and they can sometimes be quite a ways beyond where the targets are stationed.

Suggest you return to Wyoming.

I started with a 3’x6’ target for my rifle. At 200 yards it helped quit a bit. My homemade scope tube took some figuring out how to make it work. I also made several bullet molds to see what I could do. That was not working, so I bought a Paul Jones mold.
Went to 300 yards and then tested at 540 meters. I cannot shoot for another month, but will be looking at getting to shoot 500 or 600 yards late May.

Boy oh boy are you correct. We are getting a little wore out with it this year. I don't live in Kaycee any longer but about 30 miles south closer to Casper and we've measured a total of about 10' of snow so far for this winter. Of course it's still snowing as I type this. The Ten Sleep shoot is in eleven days. Not sure how that's going to work out. May not be able to get my camper out by then?
