I have the STI/Cabine tree tripod, would like to put A Manfrotto ball quick connect head on it. They make a
lot of models and styles. Can some recommend one that fits the threaded STI tripod mount and works well?

I should add that my spotting scope is a Kowa tsn-774.

Get the head you want and have the top plug modified to work with it. Or, cut the tube just below the bolt holes and remove the top plug. Then have a new plug made that's designed for your head. I'm not aware of any direct fit.

Roger that. I did figure some type of fit mod. would be needed. The Mandfrotto's do seem to be a big quality upgrade.....especially now I have a good scope.

Had a ball head and did not like it for panning left and right. My tripod has the old 3042 3 way head on it. It is very sturdy and rigid. The new version is the 3D Super Pro 3 Way. It is about twice as expensive as I paid for my tripod and head on ebay.

OOPS!, I mean 3047 tripod head. There are quite a few of them on ebay for less than $75

I like my Manfrotto MHXPRO-3W.
I also a Manfrotto ball head which works fine. Mine has the separate knob to allow panning without loosening up the ball, and I consider this a mandatory feature for silhouette.
