Had a brand new mold so put it on another set of handles not as bad wonder is heat wrong? Or mold not hot enough? Thanks

yes I would say your mold needs cleaning or adjusting as that line is pretty obvious in the pic

have you cast before ? did you preheat the mold ? I normally put the first 5 ton10 back in the pot it takes a few to get the mold up to temperature so it drops out proper bullets with the bands all filled out with sharp edges and the base filled out proper do you have a pic of the base?

with the other handles on it now can you still see light when closed ? :shock:

That texture to the bullet may indicate the presence of Zinc contamination in your alloy
And, perhaps your temp is not high enough.

You can not see light through the new mold. I preheated the old mold and cast about 20 bullets. Still a line.

where did you get your lead alloy ( lead mix from ) :?:

I bought the lead from Buffalo arms. It has a lot is yellow and crust on top ??

are you cleaning or skimming the top of the pot off so it is clean the top should look like a mirror shinny when dipping out of it opps should have asked if it was a bottom pour pot or if you were using a dipper :?:

well your mix should be ok then as they sell lots and others use it with out trouble

is there moisture in the air where you are casting :?: Where do you live ? USA Canada ? Other lol
