Rifleman is same course of fire as Ironman. Rifleman does not have a spotter.
If you register as Rifleman you commit to shoot without a spotter on target days.
Rifleman & ML, 7 entries = 3 trophies, 8+ entries = 4 trophies.
Rifleman and ML are eligible to prevail by total score in the Ironman & 1000.
All aggregate places determined by high score regardless of any other element.

DESERT INTERNATIONAL BULLETIN & COURSE OF FIRE
TARGET RIFLE
February 1-8, 2024
Two Categories, Muzzle Loader Rifle and Black Powder Cartridge Rifle.
All Target Rifle Matches may be shot from any position including bench. Shooters to provide bench, cross sticks or rest, no rear bag. Competitors shall pull targets. Pit change each relay.
All shooting each day from one firing point, Relay One left of firing point pin, Relay Two right of firing point pin. Shooters may leave equipment on firing line between relays, (except rifles), which must be secured behind firing lines. Open Bolt Indicators Required for Cartridge Rifles when moving to and from firing line and/or rifles left in open behind firing line.
Competitors may use cross sticks, wrist rests and/or sling. Cast or swaged lead alloy bullets only, no gas checks. Black Powder and/or Pyrodex only. No convertible sighters.
Rifleman Shooters, limit 3 sighters, 1st to hit paper is sighter #1. No spotter, scorer only.
Pit Service may mark all shots fired in addition to sighters at shooters discretion.
SHOOTERS MEET EACH DAY AT DESIGNATED FIRING LINE AT 8:00 AM.
Feb 1st .22 Long Rifle chambered rifles with .22 Long Rifle ammunition only.
A.- All shooting from 200 yard firing line. 3x20 shots = 60 shot aggregate.
B.- Standard 200 yard target, reduced 300 & 600 yard targets.
C.- Two classes, .22 BPTR Rifle, and .22 Open Rifle, iron or scope sights.
D.- .22 BPTR Rifles, Wrist Rest, Bench; Open sand bags only. Please provide your own
sandbags.
E.- 20 shots for record each target, maximum 4 sighters. Load all rifles single shot.
F.- Pit change after each 60 minute 20 shot relay. (30 minutes each shooter)
G.- Walk on shooters exempt administration fee. Enter at firing line day of match with
exact change ($35.00 U.S. Currency) to receive score cards. 48 Maximum number
of shooters, Ironman entries get priority squadding.
DAN THEODORE COMMEMORATIVE IRONMAN AWARD
Is the aggregate of the 500, 600, 800, 900 & 1,000 yard stages
Feb 2-3 500 & 600 yard stages on designated 500 & 600 yard mid range targets.
A.- 2x15 record shots, 90 minutes total two shooters, maximum 4 sighters.
B.- Pit change after each relay. No convertible sighters.
C.- Whoever fired first in the previous relay fires second in the next relay.
D.- Midrange is aggregate of combined 500 & 600 yard scores.
E.- Muzzle Loaders may snap caps in prep period, apply final cap to loaded rifle after
assuming firing position.
Feb 4-5 800 & 900 yard aggregate stages fired on regulation Long Range Target.
A.- Two relays, 2x15 record shots, 90 minutes total for two shooters, unlimited sighters,
at each distance, each day. No convertible sighters.
B.- Shooter must declare to spotter, and pits if possible, when going for score. The use
of a Spotter/Coach/Scorekeeper is permissible and encouraged but for Riflemen.
C.- Muzzle loaders may snap caps during preparation period, apply final cap to loaded
rifle after assuming firing position.
THE STEVE RHOADES MEMORIAL 1,000 YARD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IS AN AGGREGATE OF THE THREE DAYS OF 1,000 YARD STAGES WHICH IS FIRED THE LAST THREE DAYS OF THE IRONMAN MATCH
Feb 6-7 Two consecutive days 2x15 shots, 2 relays 30 shots for score each day, from 1,000
yards.
A.- 3 minute prep period, plus 90 minutes for two shooters to fire their record shots
each relay. (Please, when both shooters finish their record shots remove your rifles
from the firing line.)
B.- Unlimited sighters with spotter or scorer. No convertible sighters.
C.- Muzzle loaders may snap caps during preparation period, apply final cap to loaded
rifle after assuming firing position.
Feb 8 Two Relays, 10 record shots from 1,000 yards for a 20 shot aggregate. Limit 3 sighters,
first sighter to hit paper is sighter #1. If the next two shots are misses, the following or
4th shot is your first record shot. No coaching or help spotting record shots.
A.- You have 60 minutes for two shooters to fire their 3 sighters and ten record shots
Each.
B.- Muzzle loaders may snap caps during preparation period, apply final cap to loaded
rifle after assuming firing position. No convertible sighters.
THIS IS AN OPEN EVENT. NO MEMBERSHIP IN ANY ORGANIZATION REQUIRED, NO CLASSES, NO CATEGORIES, ALL OUTCOMES DEPENDENT UPON THE HIGHEST SCORES RANKED FROM HIGHEST TO LOWEST. THE PURPOSE OF THIS EVENT IS TO PROVIDE A HIGH QUALITY SHOOTING EXPERIENCE THAT IS FUN AND ENJOYABLE FOR THE SHOOTERS TO PARTICIPATE IN. ANY NEGATIVE CONDUCT WILL BE DELT WITH EXPEDITIOUSLY BY TARGETED OSTRACISM.
