We had beautiful weather on Friday for the .22 @ 200 yard match. Winds were light but constantly fishtailing from 4:00 to 7:00 which made things interesting.
The long range match Saturday started at the 1000 yard line with cool conditions, a 15-20 mph gusting headwind and heavy drizzle which made just seeing the targets a real challenge for those shooting the first relay. There weren't many that walked away from that relay without at least one miss! Conditions improved after that and settled into the normal Lodi winds but at least no more precipitation!
Sunday started out cool with rain and wind and promised much more of the same all day. A vote was taken and the consensus was to stay dry and call the match and hope for better weather for the next match August 18, 19 and 20th.
As many of you know Jim Kluskens was killed in a logging accident a few weeks after the fall 2022 match. Jim had been campaigning paper patch bullets for many years and was a strong proponent of them as well as a very stiff competitor. Cliff and Matt had a challenge coin commissioned to be presented to the high paper patch shooter of this and subsequent matches in his memory. The winner of the spring 2023 match Daniel Townsend was also awarded the Kluskens coin for high paper patch shooter as well.
For those of you that have not been to the matches at Lodi your missing out. The range is situated in a north woods setting with camping at the range.
The match is well run, challenging and most importantly a great time!
Todd
