Older Shiloh

Post by mongo40 »

Went to a gun show this past weekend and someone had traded this in, I liked it cause its 45-70 and has a 26" half octagon to round barrel, little heavier than a carbine but not bad, make a good hunting rifle and won't bother me to carry it around in the woods as the wood on it isn't anything to brag about. Someone had glued a piece of bone on the pistol grip that looked a little Wonky to me, I've already removed it and cleaned it up. Has a Pedersoli Tang sight on it, design is a little complicated but it'll work. I figure when you can get one you like for less than 2K then do it!

Nothing wrong with that! I have a 40-70 SS configured almost the same way, but with upgraded wood. Cost me well under $2K 2 or 3 years ago. Based on the serial number, it was made in 1986.

The Pedersoli tang sights work but if you get damned tired of aggravation in a hurry sell it to someone you don't like and buy an MVA. Bobw
