I looked at 20+ reamer prints for chambers normally used for cast bullets and throat angles ran from 1/2 deg to 3 deg. The most common was 1 1/2 deg which is also widely used for jacketed bullet chambers. I am specifically looking at 38-55 shooting 320-360gr greasers. Any reason not to go with 1 1/2 deg. Opinions and experiences welcome.

The question you are asking is extremely detailed in its response. You'll notice that NONE of the bigshots on YouTube who you see shooting 1" groups at 1000 yards are willing to discuss chamber/throat dimensions. That's not by accident. The single biggest factors that determine the ultimate accuracy potential of your rifle is capable of are the chamber/throat dimensions. Here's a link that will start you on the path....

I have 1 rifle with a 1-30 degree lead. 2 soon to be three rifles with a 3 degree lead. The two I have with 3 degree leads are both 38-50. I also have two rifles that have a 12 degree that starts right at the case mouth and goes directly into the rifling. They all shoot good. Personally I can’t think of a problem going with a 1-30 lead.
