Sad news to report…(Al Lee)

Post by JonnyV »

Al Lee, the founder of the Quigley shoot in Forsyth Montana, has passed away. Al was a firm believer in the 45-90 chambering as well as a cattle rancher and community leader.

So very, very sad. A lovely, generous man. He greeted us heartily and warmly on our first foray to the Q and every year thereafter. Cut from a different cloth and will be missed greatly. I know most who've been fortunate to attend the Q and to meet with Al would agree that people like that dont come around very often and as lucky as we have been to know him.. we are now diminished. Prayers and strength to his family and friends . I always warmed to his quote " I want to beat you on your best day". Now that is a sportsman. Rest in peace.
Gavin.

Gavin and others, I'm sorry to here that Al has passed away. He is the reason why this website exists today. If It wasn't for him and a few friends, this sport would have died years ago or never even taken off.

Al Lee had a big heart. I met him on numerous occasions when we were shooting in Forsyth he always took the time to find out what was new with you and pass on the stories that he could remember he was a giant, and will be missed🙏

Very sad day. Always had a conversation with him at the Q. His generosity, and his wife's, made the Quigley match a reality. Not many like them. Prayers to the family.

He will be missed!

It has often be said that the worst part of getting old is saying 'Goodbye' to all your friends. This one is especially tough.

Safe Home Mr. Lee

Seems to me that the generation before us were of the best caliber. I didn't know Al, but in a sense he represented a world that will be sorely missed and never regained.

I'm assuming some type of memorial will be at the Quigley shoot. Al and friends really put a boost to the sport. Quigley movie gave it a start but the Quigley shoot added many continuing shooters as well as international shooter interest.

Jim, have you ever heard of the the Forsyth club having an agreement with the Lee family for use of their lands after the passing of Al and his wife? I saw that his wife Sharon passed last August. Bob
