TOP SECRET Project Underway to help resolve case separations

Post by desert deuce »

OK, first. Even though this project has been reduced from TS to Secret and now to a need-to-know basis, it remains vitally important to Black Powder Cartridge Rifle Shooters everywhere. A group known to be resistant to logic, change and pure fact.

Initially, I wanted to announce the project as a method to eliminate case separations and was overruled by the committee's legal team.

The Compassionate and World Renown Benefactor having heard the cries from the planets ranges is embarking on a failsafe project to develop and market a proper chamber swab to be used in conjunction with BACO Bore Squeegees because he knows that the solution to the vast majority of case separations in black powder cartridge rifles is the result of wet rifle chambers.

The question was asked as to the viability of a broken case extractor and the committee felt that if the shooter was not bright enough to shoot a dry chamber they deserved a separated case in their chamber to assist them in seeing the obvious. :P

So I am writing here in favor of this project and encourage you that if, you wish to eliminate or greatly reduce case separations then preorder such a chamber swab C/O Dave Gullo, Buffalo Arms, Sandpoint, ID, USA

You will be glad you did. :D

Business end accepts mops with 8-32 threads, 2 adapters enable the use of mops with 10-32 threads or 5/16”-27 shotgun mops.

Your choice of knobs - 3/4” diameter black phenolic ball knob, 1” phenolic ball knob, red or black, or 1-1/2” diameter pool ball.

Unless Mr. Gullo has a completely different approach to chamber mopping.

I look forward to information on the top secret mops :-).

I've never been super satisfied with the cotton shotgun mops because I need to keep a few going in rotation drying out in the sun on my mat. They pretty quickly become a little bit damp and become chamber lubricators rather than mops.

Agreed Chris, less so a problem with the 50 cal mop than the 44-45 size. The idea of the 3 adapters is genius. I now use a lot less MPRO7 on the pellets than I used to.

Well Patchbox, looks like it isn't/wasn't such a secret after all. Is there a link to it?

Yes. I make them. I haven’t been overjoyed with what’s available as far as the mops go. Seems like some of the shotgun mops are more suited to what we’re looking for so as to fill the chamber. So most of what’s available is a mixed bag of tricks - find what works for you and use it. Obviously, just including one mop with the tool is not going to cut it during a shooting session as the mops get saturated to some extent. So basically buy enough of whatever mop you use and attach it to the handle thingy.

Hey Zack, this is the bore mop that I used in Phoenix. You looked at it all week long…

You are correct Johnny. I did not know, however, that the swab was .50 Cal until now and the swab itself with the 8x32 thread is what I am looking for.
