Gun barrel and paper patch
Can you use paper patch bullets in a regular Shiloh barrel or does your barrel have to be made for paper patch bullets?? Seen some were someone said they used to make barrels in the old days just for paper patch bullets? Thanks

Not necessarily hard but it does take a bit more patience and perseverance to get a handle on than the easy peasy grease groove rout

What is the purpose of the paper patch? Was it to prevent leading? Also do you need to swab the barrel between shots since there are no grease grooves?

The top four scores in the IRONMAN aggregate at the 2024 Desert International all used grease groove bullets. Just saying.

That is a minimum of 200 rounds on paper for score to shoot the IRONMAN at the Desert International at Ben Avery Phoenix.

Not only does their standard barrel work well with paper patch, so does their standard chamber.

And there are those of us who enjoy the std chamber with Shiloh's 7° leade installed. Or better yet cut with an original style tight Sharps chamber that can effectively use less expensive softer alloys without the need to resize our brass each time they are fired. A guy can choose lots of options when starting with an idea. Bobw

Re: Gun barrel and paper patch
So it’s probably safe to assume more shooters lost the match shooting greasers than patched. So the real question is are you more secure running with the pack?desert deuce wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 11:59 pm The top four scores in the IRONMAN aggregate at the 2024 Desert International all used grease groove bullets. Re: Gun barrel and paper patch
Well, you could look at another way and say none of the paper patchers finished in the top four. Another fact.

So? If you didn't have the top score your were loser 1,2,3 etc... If loser 1 didn't win, shooting greasers didn't help much did it...
