Following are the results from the recent 2024 Texas 22 BPCRA Fall Classic match hosted by David Barnes on his ranch & saddle-shop property. There were 36 competitors for the 1st 3-day match (prior annual matches were 2-day events). Three shooters (Tebbe, Wheeler, Menhusen) shot both scope & irons. The mornings were in the mid 60’s with light winds, warming up to the mid 90’s during the day with a good bit of shifting mirage & variable winds to challenge the shooters. This is a working cattle ranch resulting in several match stoppages to allow David’s cattle to “mosey” past the down-range targets on their way to & back from the local water tank (aka pond to you non-Texans or city folks).
Bryan Rosenbaum & Vance Ballew were the match winners for scope & irons respectively. The match included additional prizes for the most chickens & most red-headed chickens hit. Each bank of five chickens contained a "red head". I did not total the chicken count in the spreadsheet but Bryan Rosenbaum & Glen Ring tied for the most chickens at 20 each out-of-45. Rather than a shoot-off, they flipped for it & Bryan won. Kenny Tebbe hit the most red-headed chickens – five-out-of-nine with scope & five-out-of-nine with irons.
Jessie Dunbar provided breakfast tacos in the morning & sausage wraps at lunchtime, both hot off the grill. After the Saturday match we all filled up on buffalo burgers cooked over a firewood heated grill, along with the necessary trimmings & several deserts. Bryan Rosenbaum donated the ground meat from a buffalo he’d shot with a .45-70.
Special thanks to David Barnes for hosting the match & Kenny Tebbe for coordinating everything. If you didn’t make it this year, you missed a great match, outstanding competition, & excellent food. Hope to see y’all next year.

Wayne, thank you for the write up and capturing the match information. It was a very busy weekend, super hot to me anyway, and a great competition. We’re planning another three day Fall Classic for 2025 and probably will be Oct 31st, Nov 1-2. Buckles will be awarded and more info as we get closer. Thanks to everyone who attended and contact me if you have feedback or suggestions.
