Re: Thumbler's tumbler tricks
I think I bought mine in 89. I have replaced the rubber liner and lid liner once. Early on, I replaced the sheet metal stamped wing nuts with solid machined ones. The only time I experienced leaking was when I overtightened the wing nuts. Snug them only. Wayne, I think you are overthinking the solution to a non-existent problem. I switched to common vacuum cleaner belts many years ago. The O-rings did not stand up like a v-belt.

Re: Thumbler's tumbler tricks
I have an Extreme Rebel 17 tumbler, which uses the same design and size drum as the Thumler's tumbler.
I had fairly regular leaks when I first started using it. It didn't take too long to figure out that the seemingly random leak was actually not random. It was related to which side of the top plate was facing out. I put a piece of masking tape on the side of the plate that needs to face out, and haven't had a leak since. Amazingly, the piece of masking tape is still there after more than 3 years of use.....

Mine doesn’t leak. I had to replace the lid rubber with a piece of “welcome” doormat. My wife wasn’t happy but there’s plenty room for folks to wipe their feet. I use a torque wrench to tighten the nuts. That’s the secret to no leaks.

Inch pounds or foot pounds and how many? I don't want to overdue it.

Re: Thumbler's tumbler tricks
Aviator, how do you like your Rebel tumbler? I have been looking at it on a website I was given and it looks very nice. Other than the leak thing has there been any other issues pop up with yours? I would think that any tumbler with that kind of lid has the potential of leaking to an extent till you find the right combination of tightening things up. From the sounds of things perhaps one side of the lid isn't quite as flat as the other side.

Why mess with the tumbler and its problems. I have been using a Dillon vibrator for 20 years (it just keeps going, like the bunny
I use it with the ceramic media without the lid on it and never had to clean up any mess..........FWIW................

Hey Woody, the old belt just gave out on my tumbler. What vacuum cleaner belt do you use?

Re: Thumbler's tumbler tricks
I'm using the Hoover Belt 38528-034. Initially is was a loose fit, so I popped the spot welds on the motor mount and installed small machine screw and nut. I did this fix many years ago.

Re: Thumbler's tumbler tricks
Wayne you might find this funny. After years of using my Thumblers with no trouble it just started leaking. I'll probably just make a new lid
