Re: Desert International scores
Will be interesting the see the final results tonite. Morning report says that Ferringer is hanging on to the top Ironman by a very very slim margin. The winds have been giving them all fits in the second and third relays. Reports also say one very famous felt hat got swooped off to the unknown while it's owner was in the pits.
Lots of great shooting happened over this past 8 days, by many. Stayed tuned sportsman's the finale is happening as we read, and day 9 will have interesting tales to tell.

The great part is he’s only been shooting 3? Years?
Should be an inspiration for anyone thinking about getting into competition shooting

He's been shooting these rifles a little longer than that, but not much longer.

Re: Desert International scores
Two and a half years ago I decided to learn to shoot black powder, because I really wanted to try BPCR Silhouette and Target Rifle. I have been very lucky to have a great deal of help from several experienced guys!
I did get my first rifle (a Marlin lever action) about 8 years ago. I have had this Shiloh 45-70 three and a half years, I think.

Great shooting Steve. You were consistent throughout, held hard and never let up. Fantastic showing!

Re: Desert International scores
I guess it goes to show that the lowly 45-70 can be a capable long range Target Rifle, even with grease-groove bullets!
If anyone is interested, I used the BACO 459542M5 Money bullet, Starline cases, and 74 gr of Swiss 2F powder, in a Shiloh 1874 with 16 twist barrel.
Of course my very experienced spotter/coach (desert duece) was instrumental to success. The wind conditions were very challenging. One day, some of our equipment blew from the 900 yard line clear to the 200 yard line, zig-zagging all the way.

Steve,
Very good doings. We all should be listening for your advice.
You have come a very long way in a very short time.
