If you read that little folded up piece of paper in the bottom of the box, it clearly states never ever open the sprue plate with anything other than a gloved hand....
Just wondering if you called BACO about the problem with the mould before you posted this thread?

Re: New Mold Developed a Gap at the Bottom
I had a couple moulds from Brooks and Paul that had light show when the mould was closed when they were unused.
I pulled the pins on one and put some Dykem on the face of the blocks and put a sheet of paper on a plate glass and lightly pushed the block halves over the paper and it showed no signs of a high or low spot. Cleaned the blocks and pushed the pins back up adjusted the pins and I saw no light showing.
The next new mold that showed light I checked the pin hight and one was higher than the rest. Pushing it down solved this light gap.
I also warped a brass mould once pre heating it.

I'm not criticizing BACO in any way and do not want imply that this particular mold was faulty when received. My concern is the trend with several molds and problems with how I've been using them. I haven't yet contacted them but will do so in hope that this mold can be corrected without my having to order a new one. I appreciate the advice received in this thread.Don McDowell wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 6:00 am If you read that little folded up piece of paper in the bottom of the box, it clearly states never ever open the sprue plate with anything other than a gloved hand....

I checked mine again. If i squeeze harder it goes shut and you can feel a little sticking when opened, so im just gonna tweak the quilty pin.

Re: New Mold Developed a Gap at the Bottom
Well, I did a little checking and one pin was out about .020 farther than the other two. Drove it back with my Wyoming Sight Drifter and it sure appears to be better, opens nice and no light if squeezed. Will have to see if that does the trick.
