If you shoot with a scope, put a left hand bend on it to clear the scope and hammer

Are you the maker of those patchbox??patchbox wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 12:01 am Cartridge Seating Tool for Sharps Rifles - Cam it forwards instead of backwards. Short knob maybe would work for rifles with scopes?
Made out of Naval Brass so as to cause minimal wear on cartridge and receiver. Grooved to prevent contact with primer upon seating. Will cam in a cartridge about .200"

The short one will not clear a scope.
Needs the bend.
To the right for a right handed shooter. Left is for those lefty’s

Re: Cartridge Seating Tool
Kenny I don't think you would want it to the right. I think the hammer would get in the way. It would be no problem for long range because the scope would be higher up. I might be wrong on this but I don't think you will get the seater between the scope and hammer for close range.
Maybe at full cock you might.

Nope you’re wrong, I hold the rifle in my left hand and load with my right.
Think about it.
Obviously you never shoot right handed.

Yup, still trying to figure out which shoulder to hold the rifle.

Re: Cartridge Seating Tool
The cartridge seater that Glenn made for me can in really handy over the weekend. Shooting in mid 20s my thumbs really started to hurt so I just used the tool to seat the cases the rest of the way. That came in real handy.

BobW,
I use the Rhoades cartridge, breach seater tool for silhouette and longrange both.
Trust me Bob I know how to load ammo. 6 National Championships and 2 winter Nationals would indicate that.
You have no concept of that type of precision shooting. There is a big world beyond the Quigley.
Kenny Wasserburger.
PS Glen SSShooter put me in for one of the Sharps models I would like 2 actually for my soon to be 3 competition rifles I have a 77 coming soon. Thanks.

Re: Cartridge Seating Tool
Myself being new to this ‘big bullets and thin paper’ concept in pp-shooting as Kenny W. has brought to my attention recently, I find it hard not to order a new bullet mould and Seth Cole vellum. I want to ring-out every bit of accuracy I can out of these rifles shooting pp. I can understand the necessity of using this cartridge seating tool.

Re: Cartridge Seating Tool
I never realized how often I would use one until I got one. At the nationals my bullets got damp from all the rain and moisture in the air on the first day of irons. Things started getting really hard to chamber. Someone let me borrow a tool and it was a good thing cause there were a few that I just couldn’t get in with my thumbs. Without that tool I would have been up shit creek without a paddle. After that I ordered a couple of those tools from Glenn and I have found myself using them more often than I thought I would. This past weekend at friendship I used it just about every time during the first 2 relays on Sunday only because my fingers were frozen.

OK...... looks like we have a machine coming open next week, so shouldn't be too long until will have Sharps, HIgh Wall & Borchardt back in stock. Do have a few Hepburn cartridge seats available at the moment.

Hepburn seaters in stock, figures. There are only a Few Good Men that shoot Hepburns.
